About this plugin
The Tonelux Tilt condenses channel shaping into a single, elegant control without sacrificing sonic integrity. Its core feature is a shelving filter that simultaneously attenuates one end of the spectrum while boosting the other - turn clockwise to brighten and thin the sound, counterclockwise to warm and fatten it. This complementary approach differs from independent high and low shelf EQs, offering a more musical tonal pivot that feels intuitive for quick mix adjustments.
The plugin's architecture reflects its hardware origins in Paul Wolff's Tonelux MP1a preamp module. Softube's digital model includes the discrete transformer character found in the original, which imparts gentle harmonic saturation at bass frequencies - adding body and presence without obvious coloration. A Loud switch toggles the filter's intensity between subtle and pronounced ranges, accommodating both aggressive shaping and transparent fine-tuning.

Beyond the tilt mechanism, the plugin supplies high and low pass filters switchable between 6dB and 12dB per octave slopes, plus phase inversion and makeup gain. This toolkit handles most foundational channel preparation without overwhelming users with excessive parameters.
Tonelux Tilt suits tracking engineers prioritizing speed, mixing professionals seeking quick tonal corrections, and mastering engineers managing ear fatigue during long sessions. Its dedicated Live variant optimizes performance for VENUE systems and other live mixing environments. While modern DAWs offer sophisticated parametric EQs, Tilt's focused design and transformer modeling provide a compelling alternative for engineers who value sonic character and workflow efficiency alongside precision control.
