About this plugin
Chordjam is a MIDI generation plugin that addresses a specific compositional bottleneck: the creation of evolving harmonic content in real-time production environments. Rather than functioning as a traditional chord library or arpeggiator, it operates as an intelligent randomization engine that generates variations across multiple parameters simultaneously - scale type, chord quality, voicing, rhythmic density, and progression direction. The result is a tool that produces musically coherent but genuinely unpredictable harmonic sequences without requiring manual input for each iteration.
The plugin's architecture centers on user-guided constraints. You establish parameters such as scale constraints, allowed chord types, and voicing ranges, then the sequencer generates progressions that respect these boundaries while introducing variation. Version 1.5's MPE support adds polyphonic portamento capabilities, allowing smooth gliding between chord voicings - a technically significant addition for expressive real-time performance.

Chordjam finds its strongest application in electronic music production, film scoring, and generative composition where harmonic iteration serves as a creative springboard rather than final output. Producers working with hardware synths or external MIDI instruments benefit from its drag-and-drop MIDI export functionality. The intelligent sequencer distinguishes it from simpler randomizers, as its progressions follow recognizable harmonic logic rather than purely stochastic chord selection.
Among comparable tools, Chordjam occupies a unique position between rigid progression libraries and purely algorithmic composition systems. It succeeds most when treated as an ideation accelerator - a tool for rapidly exploring harmonic territory rather than a replacement for deliberate compositional choices. For producers seeking systematic harmonic variation without sacrificing control, it delivers genuine utility.
