About this plugin
Melody Sauce 3 is a generative MIDI plugin designed to accelerate melodic composition across multiple genres. The tool operates on a straightforward premise: users select a genre and style, trigger one of several generator pads, and receive unique melodic phrases paired with chord progressions and bass lines. The core appeal lies in its ability to bypass technical barriers that often impede songwriting, particularly for producers without formal music theory training.
The third iteration represents a substantial refinement of the original concept. The generative algorithms now produce 8-bar melodic phrases, double the previous length, resulting in more developed musical statements. Chord generation extends the plugin's utility significantly, with access to nearly 1,000 distinct progressions across 9 genres and support for extended chord types including Maj9, sus2, and Dim7. The expanded rhythm library offers over 140 chord and bass variations, allowing for greater sonic differentiation between generated ideas.

The redesigned interface includes an integrated piano roll editor, enabling direct manipulation of melodic content without reliance on external DAW editing. A MIDI chord detection feature permits users to import existing chord progressions, constraining melody generation to fit specified harmonic frameworks. New Movement and Chord Fit controls provide additional refinement options.
Melody Sauce 3 is most valuable for producers working under tight deadlines or those seeking rapid ideation across multiple compositional directions. While the plugin excels at generating starting points and harmonic scaffolding, the quality of outputs remains variable and typically benefits from manual refinement. The tool functions best as an inspirational catalyst rather than a complete compositional solution, making it a practical addition to any workflow prioritizing speed and experimentation.
