About this plugin
Space Rider consolidates three essential spatial effects - reverb, delay, and chorus - into a single plugin with an architecture designed for rapid workflow and dynamic sound design. The three effects can be chained in any order, allowing producers to route chorus into delay into reverb or configure alternative signal paths, enabling spatial effects that would traditionally require multiple plugin instances and careful bus management.
The plugin's defining feature is its dynamic Rider, a multiparameter modulation engine that can be assigned to any effect parameter. When engaged, the Rider morphs between effect states in real time, either via user-defined curves or by responding directly to the incoming audio signal through an integrated envelope shaper. This approach circumvents conventional automation workflows, allowing effects to evolve organically with the source material without manual editing.

Waves built new reverb, delay, and chorus algorithms specifically for Space Rider, prioritizing sonic quality alongside the streamlined interface. The reverb algorithms handle spatial definition effectively, while the delay section provides the timing precision necessary for both creative and corrective applications. The chorus component adds modulation depth without the muddiness common to lower-tier implementations.
Space Rider is best suited for mixing engineers and producers who value speed without compromising sound quality, particularly those working in genres where spatial effects are central to the aesthetic - electronic music, hip-hop, and contemporary pop production. It competes alongside plugins like FabFilter Pro-R and Native Instruments' Raum, though its integration of the dynamic Rider system and three-effect signal flow differentiates it meaningfully. The included presets from Grammy-credited producers provide both starting points and reference material for professional-level results.
