About this plugin
CLA Epic is a reverb and delay plugin designed around the mixing philosophy of Chris Lord-Alge, one of modern music's most prolific mixing engineers. Rather than presenting a single algorithmic approach, it bundles eight distinct processors - four reverbs and four delays - that can be layered, routed, and blended with considerable flexibility.
The reverb section draws from classic hardware: Plate and Hall algorithms handle traditional spatial expansion, while Room provides intimate ambience. The Space reverb stands apart as a non-linear algorithm that adds character beyond standard convolution or algorithmic reverbs. The delay types similarly diverge in character. Tape emulates warm, slightly degraded tape echo; Slap delivers short, punchy repeats; Crowd adds density and thickness; Throw creates discrete, rhythmically spaced repeats. Each processor includes modulation controls for adding movement and texture.

What distinguishes CLA Epic from conventional reverb-delay chains is its routing architecture. You can feed delays into reverbs in various configurations - series, parallel, or hybrid arrangements - with single-click switching. This mirrors Lord-Alge's signature approach of stacking multiple processors to create cohesive yet dimensional spaces rather than relying on single processors.
The plugin includes 350 presets from Lord-Alge alongside contributions from Greg Wells and Michael Brauer, offering useful starting points across genres and sources. Host tempo sync ensures delays and reverbs lock rhythmically to your session.
For engineers seeking flexible, characterful space effects without menu diving, CLA Epic occupies practical middle ground between simple reverb plugins and complex effect chains. It suits anyone working across multiple sources - vocals, drums, guitars, synths - who wants cohesive spatial processing without building parallel chains manually.
