About this plugin
Waves' OneKnob Wetter distills reverb and delay into a single, intuitive control that shifts the character of both effects simultaneously as you turn the knob. At lower settings, the plugin emphasizes shorter delay times with minimal reverb, creating a sense of space without obscuring transients. As you increase the knob, delay recedes while reverb tail lengthens, eventually reaching lush, diffuse ambience reminiscent of large acoustic spaces. This morphing approach eliminates the typical decision paralysis between reverb and delay, making it particularly effective for rapid mixing decisions.
The underlying reverb engine reflects Waves' algorithmic lineage, delivering natural decay characteristics rather than artificial shimmer. The plugin generates genuine stereo imagery from mono sources, a meaningful advantage for centering vocals or snare drums while maintaining phantom width. Its optimization as an insert effect rather than send-return means you can achieve significant depth without routing complexity.

OneKnob Wetter appeals most to engineers prioritizing workflow efficiency: session musicians tracking overdubs, remix specialists under time constraints, and producers building arrangements who need immediate spatial context. It's less suited to sound designers seeking granular control over predelay, diffusion, or decay morphology, where dedicated reverbs offer more parameters.
Among competing simplified ambience tools, OneKnob Wetter's linked reverb-delay morphing distinguishes it from competitors that merely layer two separate effects. While it won't replace dedicated reverb processors for detailed shaping, it provides genuinely usable results across most tracked instruments and voices without deep menu diving.
