About this plugin
Sibilance is a surgical de-esser that approaches vocal processing from first principles. Rather than applying blanket high-frequency reduction, it analyzes incoming audio into constituent components and targets only the problematic sibilant frequencies - the "s" and "sh" sounds that plague vocal recordings. This component-based architecture means you can achieve aggressive de-essing without the dull, lifeless quality that plagues conventional threshold-based tools.
The plugin's Organic ReSynthesis engine reconstructs the de-essed signal by recombining processed components, preserving the natural resonance and harmonic structure of the original vocal. In practice, this means you can push the processing further than competing de-essers without sacrificing intelligibility or presence. The tone remains open and three-dimensional even under heavy correction.

Sibilance offers genuine flexibility in its detection parameters. The variable frequency mode allows targeting either broad sibilant ranges or specific problem bands, while separate transient and sustain detection modes accommodate both quick sibilant attacks and sustained "ess" sounds that linger across syllables. An informative graph displays both when de-essing occurs and its intensity, providing clear visual feedback during critical listening decisions.
The plugin suits vocal-centric workflows across music production, dialogue editing, voiceover, and podcasting. A zero-latency version enables real-time monitoring during recording or live applications. While not inexpensive, Sibilance occupies a distinct tier among de-essers - it's the tool serious mix engineers reach for when standard approaches fail to deliver natural-sounding results without collateral damage.
