About this plugin
Element 2.0 is Waves' virtual analog synthesizer plugin designed to emulate the sonic character of classic subtractive synthesis architectures. The instrument employs analog modeling techniques to reproduce the harmonic warmth and saturation inherent to voltage-controlled oscillators and filter designs from the 1970s and 1980s, targeting both monophonic and polyphonic synthesis workflows.
The signal chain centers on a resonant filter with modulation capabilities, supported by a matrix-based modulation system that allows complex parameter automation without requiring menu diving. A 16-step sequencer and arpeggiator provide rhythmic generative tools suitable for both compositional work and live performance contexts. The integrated effects suite - including reverb, delay, and distortion modules - enables complete sound design without external processing.

Element 2.0 functions both as a standalone application and as a plugin across major DAW platforms, making it accessible for studio production and live setups. Full MIDI Learn implementation and multipoint touch control support current hardware controllers and touch interfaces. The included preset library provides starting points for exploration, though the interface layout encourages hands-on parameter adjustment.
The plugin occupies a competitive middle ground within virtual analog synthesis, offering straightforward architecture without the deep modulation complexity of more advanced instruments. It appeals primarily to producers seeking authentic subtractive synthesis without steep learning curves, as well as engineers valuing tonal character over maximum flexibility. Among comparable tools, Element 2.0 distinguishes itself through emphasis on tactile interaction and immediate sonic gratification.
