About this plugin
Waterfall B3 Organ delivers a meticulously modeled recreation of the Hammond B3 tonewheel organ paired with a Leslie 147 rotary speaker cabinet. Rather than relying on sampling or simplified synthesis, the plugin models the actual signal chain of the original hardware: tonewheel oscillators, drawbar interactions, tube power amp saturation, and transformer behavior. This approach captures the subtle harmonic complexities and nonlinear behavior that made the B3 a cornerstone of soul, R&B, and rock production.
The Leslie modeling stands as the plugin's particular strength. Rather than emulating speaker movement with simple modulation, Waterfall reconstructs the actual three-dimensional sound field created by the rotating horn and bass drum, incorporating speaker breakup, frequency-dependent Doppler effects, and the characteristic tonal coloration of vintage microphone placement. This results in convincing spatial movement and organic motion that synthetic approaches typically miss.

The included preset library contains over 70 configurations covering period-appropriate organ sounds across multiple genres, from warm drawbar combinations suited to soul to more aggressive voicings for rock and funk. This library substantially reduces the design work needed to achieve usable tones quickly, though the underlying drawbar controls remain fully accessible for deeper customization.
Waterfall B3 functions as a UAD Native plugin, running on Mac and PC systems without requiring UA hardware, making it accessible to producers working in any DAW environment. For engineers seeking authentic B3 character without maintaining actual hardware, or those needing deep control over both organ and speaker parameters, this plugin represents a practical solution grounded in genuine modeling rather than surface-level emulation.
