About this plugin
Absolute 7 stands as Steinberg's comprehensive mastering and mixing effects suite, delivering professional-grade processing tools designed for critical listening and final mix refinement. The plugin consolidates essential signal chain components - linear phase EQ, multiband compression, metering, and limiting - into a single, cohesive interface that prioritizes transparency and surgical control.
The sonic architecture emphasizes accuracy over coloration. Its EQ section employs true linear phase filtering to eliminate phase artifacts that compromise stereo imaging, particularly valuable during mastering when spectral integrity directly impacts translation across playback systems. The multiband dynamics section allows independent compression of frequency ranges without the pumping artifacts common to single-band limiters, making it especially effective for controlling problematic resonances in vocals or taming boomy low-end behavior in mixes.

Absolute 7 integrates sophisticated metering including loudness standards compliance tools for broadcast and streaming platforms, addressing the practical concerns of contemporary mixing workflows. The built-in reference functionality permits quick A/B comparisons against commercial references, streamlining the critical evaluation process.
This plugin serves mixing engineers and mastering professionals who demand precision instruments without unnecessary character. It functions equally well as a transparent utility in individual insert chains or as a comprehensive master bus processor. Among comparable tools like FabFilter Pro-Q and Waves SSL G-Master Compressor, Absolute 7 occupies middle ground - less specialized than point-solution plugins yet more straightforward than some competing all-in-one suites. For Cubase users seeking native integration and consistent workflow, it represents a natural centerpiece for serious production work.
