About this plugin
Softube's Drawmer S73 IMP brings the precision of Drawmer's legendary 1973 three-band FET compressor into the digital domain, tailored specifically for mastering work. Rather than simply emulating the original hardware, Softube has integrated intelligent presets organized by processing philosophy, allowing engineers to quickly audition different mastering approaches without extensive parameter tweaking.
The plugin's architecture divides the frequency spectrum into three independent compression bands, each handling low, mid, and high frequency content with the characteristics that made Drawmer's analog design award-winning. The modeling captures the nonlinear behavior and harmonic interaction of the original FET topology, delivering the musical compression character that defined '70s mastering chains.

What distinguishes the S73 from generic multiband tools is its "Style" parameter system, which pre-configures compression ratios, attack times, and release settings based on established mastering techniques. This guided approach reduces decision fatigue during critical mastering sessions while preserving full manual control for engineers wanting deeper customization. The plugin also includes parallel compression capabilities, enabling New York-style processing without sacrificing transparency.
The S73 suits mastering engineers seeking fast workflow solutions without sacrificing analog character, as well as mixing engineers applying multiband correction to individual tracks or buses. While less aggressive than surgical multiband EQ or lookahead-based modern tools, its warm, controlled compression makes it particularly effective on material requiring tonal shaping alongside dynamic management. It occupies a distinctive position among mastering-grade multiband processors, balancing immediate usability with the earned credibility of hardware lineage.
