About this plugin
Universal Audio's Native Classics Bundle consolidates twelve essential analog processors into a single software suite, representing the sonic foundation of recorded music from the 1950s onward. The collection centers on five legendary designs: three iterations of the 1176 FET limiter, the Fairchild tube limiter in both 660 and 670 configurations, three Teletronix optical compressors (two LA-2A variants and the LA-3A), and three Pultec EQ models spanning fixed and parametric topologies.
The 1176 variants deliver aggressive, punchy gain reduction across different eras of the hardware's evolution, making them essential for controlling drums, bass, and transient-heavy sources. The Fairchild units introduce smooth, musical compression with inherent harmonic coloration that flatters vocals and adds thickness to drums. The Teletronix compressors offer slower, more transparent gain reduction with the characteristic lag that defines their sound on countless classic records. The Pultec EQs provide the subtle midrange presence peaks and low-end shelving that became studio standards.

This bundle serves producers, mixers, and mastering engineers who need authentic recreations of hardware that defined decades of hit records. Rather than assembling individual plugins piecemeal, the Native Classics Bundle offers immediate access to a cohesive signal chain foundation at substantially reduced cost. The native plugin format ensures accessibility across modern DAWs without requiring dedicated DSP hardware, though UAD DSP licenses remain available for Apollo users seeking lower latency. For engineers building professional mixes on limited budgets, this collection addresses the core processing requirements with tools that have proven themselves indispensable.
