About this plugin
The Sonnox Broadcast Collection represents a refined approach to mastering-grade dynamics and EQ processing, drawing directly from the architecture of the Sony OXF-R3 large format console. This pairing of the Oxford EQ and Oxford Dynamics delivers transparent, musically intuitive control suitable for broadcast, mastering, and critical mixing work.
The Oxford EQ's five-band parametric design with variable slope filters up to 36dB/octave provides surgical precision without the phase distortion typical of steeper digital filters. The inclusion of four distinct EQ curve algorithms - drawing from both modern and legacy designs - offers genuine sonic variety rather than superficial preset banking. The "fully de-cramped" HF response deserves attention, as it addresses a common limitation in digital EQ where high-frequency boosts tend toward brittleness.

The Oxford Dynamics engine separates itself through independent compression, limiting, expansion, and gating functions with integrated sidechain EQ. Rather than forcing compromise between aggressiveness and transparency, it allows parallel control of attack behavior and soft-knee characteristics. This modularity suits both gentle program-dependent leveling and transparent peak control.
For broadcast and mastering applications, this bundle excels where transparent loudness management matters. The sonic signature leans clinical rather than colorful - both components prioritize accuracy and low-distortion performance. Engineers comfortable with console-derived tools will find the interface logic familiar. While not bargain-priced, the Oxford processors maintain consistent sonic integrity across mix, master, and broadcast chains, justifying their position as standards in professional facilities.
