PanMan is a rhythmic auto-panning plugin that combines classic hardware panning behavior with modern modulation design. Rather than simply sweeping audio between left and right channels, PanMan functions as a comprehensive panning workstation capable of recreating vintage effects or generating intricate stereo movement patterns.

The plugin's foundation draws from obscure hardware units like the Spanner and PanScan. Its most distinctive feature is the trigger divider, which allows you to set how many gate events must occur before the pan position advances. This enables precise, stepped panning that responds to clicking, host automation, or audio threshold detection. A built-in frequency filter lets the trigger mechanism respond selectively to specific frequency ranges, making it possible to pan based on kick drum impact while ignoring everything else.

For rhythmic work, PanMan offers two core modes. Step mode provides beat-synced positional changes, while Shape mode uses a library of custom panning curves or lets you draw your own automation. Seven analog saturation modes add harmonic coloration and compression characteristics reminiscent of vintage gear, particularly useful when pushing the effect hard.
