Voice of Rapture: The Tenor stands as a comprehensive solo tenor vocal instrument that bridges the gap between sample library and playable synthesizer. Developed by Soundiron in collaboration with tenor vocalist Brian Thorsett, the library captures operatic tenor performance across a remarkably broad dynamic range, from delicate pianissimo passages to powerful fortissimo belting.
The core of the instrument consists of three true legato sustain types recorded with multiple microphone configurations in a controlled studio setting. The legato implementation employs full-sustain methodology, enabling smooth pitch transitions across the tenor's natural range of over two octaves. Vowel options include Ah, Ee, Eh, Mm, Oh, and Oo in both vibrato and non-vibrato variants, with specialized legato sustains recorded in Ah and Oo vowels at contrasting dynamic levels.
Beyond sustains, the library incorporates 25 precisely programmed staccato syllables, 12 chromatic Latin chants with phrase-synchronized legato, and an extensive phrase library containing 1358 improvised melodic passages at 80 and 100 BPM with intelligent time-stretching capabilities. The phrase content spans multiple root keys and encompasses diverse vocal styles including traditional Latin, French, and humming articulations.
The interface provides flexible sustain mode selection, three-voice polyphonic support, and real-time tempo synchronization. This combination positions The Tenor as a practical tool for contemporary composition rather than a purely playable instrument, making it particularly valuable for orchestral mockups, soundtrack work, and hybrid production contexts where authentic operatic timbre proves essential yet traditional vocal recording remains impractical.
