About this plugin
Sonible's pure:deess represents a methodical approach to de-essing that prioritizes transparency and surgical control. Unlike broadband dynamics processors retrofitted for sibilance reduction, pure:deess employs frequency-selective processing that isolates problematic sibilants without collapsing the natural character of vocals or instruments. The plugin's core strength lies in its combination of linear-phase processing and intelligent threshold adaptation, which tracks dynamic content rather than applying static settings across an entire frequency range.
The sonic signature reflects Sonible's design philosophy: clean, artifact-free, and technically honest. You won't encounter the pumping artifacts or phase distortion common to less sophisticated de-essers. This makes it particularly valuable for mastering applications and high-resolution mixing where any coloration becomes audible.

Pure:deess serves recording engineers, mixing professionals, and mastering specialists who require precise control without sonic compromise. It excels on lead vocals, where aggressive sibilants demand attention without sacrificing presence or clarity. The plugin performs equally well on drums, strings, and synthesizers where high-frequency harshness requires subtle attenuation.
Within the competitive de-esser landscape, pure:deess competes favorably against Fabfilter Pro-DS and Waves C6, offering comparable frequency resolution and control precision at a lower entry point for crossgrade customers. The linear-phase architecture represents a genuine technical advantage for critical listening environments, though less critical applications may find comparable results with conventional solutions.
The crossgrade pricing structure makes upgrading from existing plugins economically sensible for engineers seeking transparent, professional-grade de-essing without premium standalone pricing.
