About this plugin
SSL Meter Pro represents a significant advancement in real-time audio metering, addressing a persistent gap in professional production workflows. This all-in-one plugin consolidates the analytical tools that engineers have historically sourced from multiple vendors, delivering integrated loudness metering, spectral analysis, peak monitoring, and phase evaluation within a single interface.
The loudness metering engine covers the full spectrum of contemporary standards, from broadcast specifications (ITU-R BS.1770, EBU R128) to streaming platform requirements (Netflix, Spotify, YouTube) and immersive formats (Atmos). Rather than offering abstract numerical targets, Meter Pro contextualizes loudness through multiple visualization modes including momentary bars, short-term history graphs, and histograms, enabling engineers to understand not just where they are but how they arrived there.

The 31-band Real-Time Analyser provides sufficient granularity for identifying problematic resonances and energy build-ups without overwhelming the display. Multichannel support extends to 7.1.4 configurations, making it equally functional for stereo mixing, surround film work, and immersive audio projects. True Peak and RMS monitoring prevent loudness specification failures, while phase coherence analysis catches potential translation issues before they manifest on consumer playback systems.
Integration with SSL's UF1 hardware controller and SSL 360 plug-in mixer positions Meter Pro within an ecosystem rather than as an isolated tool. For mix and mastering engineers working under tight deadlines, the plugin's ability to consolidate metering responsibilities into a single trusted interface directly impacts decision-making velocity. It's become essential infrastructure rather than optional analysis.
