About this plugin
Sinevibes' KorgShift brings the distinctive character of Harald Bode's 1960s frequency shifter architecture to Korg's compact hardware ecosystem. Unlike pitch shifters that transpose entire signals while preserving harmonic relationships, frequency shifters operate in the linear domain, moving each spectral component by a fixed amount regardless of its original frequency. This fundamental difference produces the plugin's signature effect: partial desynchronization that progressively dissolves pitched material into inharmonic, bell-like, or atonal textures.
The implementation here prioritizes sonic fidelity through studio-grade DSP calibration tailored specifically for prologue, minilogue xd, and NTS-1 platforms. Sinevibes' parameter mapping philosophy emphasizes natural interaction, avoiding the typical brittleness or artifacts associated with frequency shifting. Built-in lag filtering eliminates parameter modulation noise, enabling smooth, continuous shift sweeps without digital grinding.

KorgShift excels for sound designers and experimentalists seeking harmonic destruction with surgical precision. Subtle settings add shimmer and width to pads and strings; moderate values dissolve chords into metallic ambience; extreme settings yield robotic vocals and abstracted textures. It outperforms standard pitch shifters for these tasks, offering character unavailable through transposition alone.
Among frequency shifter plugins, KorgShift distinguishes itself through hardware-native optimization and carefully considered interface design. The constraint of working within Korg's limited parameter space yields focused, decision-driven controls rather than feature bloat. For producers committed to these platforms, it represents the most capable frequency shifting tool available in the format.
