About this plugin
BOLD represents Shout Audio's approach to effects processing: straightforward utility wrapped around genuinely useful sound design. The plugin combines four core processors - drive, delay, reverb, and stereo width - into a single, integrated interface that prioritizes workflow efficiency over parameter sprawl. This constraint-based design philosophy makes it particularly valuable for producers working within sample-based workflows or those seeking to add cohesion to drum breaks and melodic elements without resorting to a multi-plugin chain.
The drive section handles saturation duties with an ear toward character rather than clinical tone shaping. The reverb and delay operate as complementary spatial tools, allowing for both subtle depth enhancement and more dramatic ambient processing. Stereo width control addresses a common production problem - managing phase relationships and perceived width without introducing the artifacts that plague less sophisticated implementations.

BOLD functions best as a foundational processing layer rather than a destination effect unit. Its design suggests it was conceived primarily for integration with the broader Shout Audio ecosystem, particularly the Sample Instrument, where it acts as a comprehensive finishing stage. However, the plugin holds value independent of that context for producers seeking transparent, reliable effects without bloated interfaces.
At its price point, BOLD occupies a sensible position among budget-conscious producers and non-profits, for whom Shout Audio offers free licensing. While it lacks the advanced routing or modulation capabilities found in premium alternatives, it delivers functional clarity and sonic coherence that justify its inclusion in any modest production setup.
