About this plugin
iZotope's RX 12 Advanced Educational Version represents the professional standard in audio restoration software, now accessible to students and educators. Built on two decades of refinement, this standalone application and plugin suite delivers forensic-level repair capabilities alongside intuitive machine learning workflows that genuinely accelerate common restoration tasks.
The toolset addresses the full spectrum of audio problems: dialogue intelligibility issues, background noise removal, click and pop elimination, spectral repair, and dialogue intonation adjustment. What distinguishes RX from competitors is the balance between granular surgical control and automated workflows. The Repair Assistant uses trained ML models to analyze problems and suggest fixes, while advanced users access detailed spectral editing, surgical EQ, and component separation. The new Scene Rebalance module allows meaningful level adjustments between dialogue, music, and effects without re-recording, a capability that was simply unavailable five years ago.

The sonic character is transparent - RX prioritizes fidelity over character, ideal for critical listening contexts where artifacts matter. Its spectral display provides visual confirmation that repairs are musically coherent rather than obvious processing.
RX 12 Advanced serves post-production facilities, broadcast engineers, and increasingly, music producers managing suboptimal recordings. Educational institutions benefit from access to tools that cost thousands in professional licenses, preparing students for industry-standard workflows. While other restoration plugins exist, none offer this depth of specialized modules or the combination of AI assistance and manual precision. For anyone serious about audio quality - whether fixing documentary footage or salvaging vocal takes - RX remains the reference tool.
