About this plugin
Resonance Sound's SOR Revolution ES2 stands as a refined spectral processor that distinguishes itself through intelligent frequency-domain manipulation rather than conventional EQ or dynamic processing. The plugin employs a bank of narrowband filters operating across the spectrum, allowing surgical extraction or enhancement of specific harmonic content while preserving phase integrity across the signal. This approach proves particularly effective for remedial work, where problematic resonances can be isolated and addressed without the coloration typical of parametric EQ.
The sonic character leans toward transparency when used conservatively, though the ES2's resonance controls invite more dramatic tonal sculpting when desired. Unlike linear-phase alternatives that introduce latency, this plugin maintains minimal processing delay, making it suitable for real-time tracking and mixing workflows alike. The interface reflects function over aesthetics - straightforward frequency readouts and gain staging controls that reward understanding over guesswork.

Production engineers gravitate toward the Revolution ES2 for mastering applications and surgical mix refinement, particularly in hip-hop, electronic, and classical contexts where spectral precision matters. It compares favorably to competing spectral tools, offering comparable analytical depth with more intuitive gain management. The plugin's strength lies not in dramatic transformation but in the control it affords over discrete frequency zones - ideal for correcting problematic vocal resonances, taming cymbal harshness, or clarifying muddy low-end definition without invoking wider tonal changes. For practitioners comfortable with frequency-specific thinking, it represents a practical investment.
