About this plugin
Fluid Chords 2 represents a substantial refinement of Pitch Innovations' chord-bending instrument, delivering meaningful improvements in voice leading, real-time control, and sonic depth. The plugin's core strength remains its ability to smoothly transition between arbitrary chord voicings, but the new voice-leading engine demonstrates considerably more musicality in how individual voices move during bends, minimizing awkward jumps and maintaining harmonic coherence.
The strum feature adds genuine expressivity by sequencing note bends incrementally, approximating natural plucked-string behavior. The flow control parameter adjusts voicing spread during transitions, allowing producers to choose between tight, close-voiced progressions and wider, more spacious configurations. For those seeking structural inspiration, the harmony engine generates chord progressions based on selected key and genre, a practical addition for composition rather than gimmickry.

The revised sound design merits attention. A hybrid engine combining wavetable synthesis with MPE sample playback offers flexibility beyond previous iterations, with integrated effects (gate, reverb, delay, compressor) enabling complete sound shaping within the plugin. The split and play mode facilitates performance by freeing the right hand for melodic material while the left triggers expressive chord movements.
Real-time mode eliminates sustain pedal dependency, making the plugin genuinely performable on modern controllers. Doubling the chord capacity to 16 voicings expands creative possibilities without compromising the chromatic key mapping system.
Fluid Chords 2 appeals to electronic musicians, film composers, and producers prioritizing harmonic expression over traditional arrangement. It occupies a unique position in the market, with limited direct competition at this level of sophistication.
