About this plugin
Alicia's Electric Keys brings the documented sound of Alicia Keys' personal CP-70 electric grand piano into the Kontakt environment, captured through detailed multisampling and paired with a comprehensive signal chain architecture. The instrument reproduces the characteristically warm, percussive tonality of the CP-70, a rarely sampled electric piano that has anchored Keys' productions for decades, with particular prominence in "Girl on Fire" and her broader catalog.
The plugin distinguishes itself through its effects routing, which incorporates Keys' own signal processing preferences alongside a tiered selection of preamps and cabinet models. This allows users to move beyond the raw piano samples into a more complete emulation of the instrument's recorded context. The customizable parameters - overtone, punch, resonance, and similar controls - provide practical means to reshape the core character without requiring external processing chains, though the architecture supports parallel processing workflows.

The interface employs straightforward categorization by sound type, character, and style, reducing browsing time for producers working under deadline. For session musicians, arrangers, and producers seeking a documented electric piano voice with professional pedigree, the plugin offers immediate credibility. The instrument appeals particularly to contemporary R&B, soul, and pop practitioners where Keys' influence persists, as well as engineers documenting specific stylistic references.
The development process involved Ann Mincielli, a GRAMMY-winning recording engineer who has worked directly with Keys, lending technical credibility to the sampling and processing choices. Within the crowded field of electric piano software, Alicia's Electric Keys occupies a specific niche - not a universal solution, but rather a documented artifact of a particular artist's instrumental voice.
