About this plugin
The MF-101S brings Moog's legendary 4-pole ladder filter architecture into the digital domain with genuine fidelity to the hardware original. This isn't merely a simulation; it's a faithful recreation of the analog circuit topology that defined the character of Moog's modular synthesizers, scaled for contemporary production workflows. The filter's resonance exhibits the characteristic gentle self-oscillation and musical saturation that made the original hardware sought-after across decades of studio and live work.
What distinguishes the MF-101S is its integrated envelope follower, allowing dynamic filter modulation directly from input signal dynamics. This coupling of filter and envelope tracking produces organic, performance-responsive tonal sweeps that respond intuitively to playing dynamics or vocal inflection. The interaction between cutoff frequency, resonance, and envelope sensitivity creates the kind of interdependent parameter behavior that encourages exploratory sound design.

The plugin extends the original concept with stereo processing, CV control capabilities, and stackable instances, enabling sophisticated filter chains and sidechain modulation within modern DAWs. Preset management adds practical workflow value, though the relatively straightforward control set invites hands-on tweaking.
The MF-101S suits producers and engineers seeking authentic ladder filter character without compromising on modern integration. It excels on sources demanding warmth and musical filtering - synthesizers, guitars, and vocal processing benefit from its smooth, characterful response. While simpler filter designs offer more surgical precision, the MF-101S prioritizes musicality and the organic parameter interaction that defines Moog's design philosophy. For those valuing tonal character over clinical accuracy, this plugin stands among the most credible digital ladder filter implementations available.
