About this plugin
Arturia's Filter MINI isolates the 24dB per octave ladder filter topology from its Mini V software synthesizer, delivering the resonant character of the original 1970s hardware through a straightforward plugin interface. The filter itself remains faithful to the classic design: smooth frequency sweeps, musical saturation characteristics at high resonance settings, and the subtle harmonic coloration that defined the era's most valued monosynths.
Beyond the core filter section, Filter MINI includes three modulation sources - an envelope follower, LFO, and step sequencer - that meaningfully expand creative possibilities without overwhelming the workflow. The envelope follower responds to input dynamics, making it particularly useful for responsive tonal processing on drums or vocals. The LFO and step sequencer add time-based modulation, enabling everything from subtle filter movement to more rhythmically complex sound design.

The plugin suits both surgical audio processing and textural experimentation. Engineers will appreciate its effectiveness on vocals, drums, and synth sources where warmth and presence shaping matter. Sound designers benefit from the modulation section for evolving pad work or rhythmic filter effects. A built-in patch manager and preset library provide starting points, though the streamlined interface encourages hands-on exploration.
Filter MINI occupies a specific niche among modern filter plugins. It prioritizes sonic character and simplicity over algorithmic complexity, making it most valuable for users seeking authentic ladder filter behavior rather than morphing architectures or novel processing modes. Its true strength lies in the filter's inherent musicality - that quality which made the original hardware indispensable across decades of music production.
