About this plugin
Poly Flanger represents a meaningful departure from conventional flanger design by anchoring its modulation to harmonic and rhythmic structure rather than operating as a detached sound effect. Minimal Audio's approach addresses a persistent limitation in traditional flanging: the tendency for LFO-driven sweeps to drift against a track's tonal center, creating a sense of disconnect rather than integration.
The plugin's core strength lies in its scale-aware architecture. By constraining pitch movement to user-defined scales, Poly Flanger generates in-key arpeggios and chord stacks that evolve musically with the underlying harmony. This isn't merely quantization applied after the fact; the musical intelligence is embedded in how the effect generates motion. Users can layer multiple flanger voices to build texture complexity, with each voice remaining harmonically coherent while creating dimensional depth that single-voice flanging cannot achieve.

The modulation engine offers genuine flexibility. LFO shapes can be randomized, spread across the stereo field, and locked to tempo, allowing for both rhythmically precise sweeps and organic, unpredictable movement that nonetheless remains tonally centered. This balance between control and evolution distinguishes Poly Flanger from more rigid pitch-correction-based approaches.
The 80-preset library reflects practical applications: from subtle harmonic thickening of static pads to aggressive arpeggiated movement on leads. Experienced producers will recognize its utility for transforming stretched-out synth layers and single-voice sources into complex harmonic textures without requiring additional synthesis or arrangement.
Poly Flanger occupies a distinct position in the modulation landscape - more intentional than traditional flangers, less clinical than granular pitch shifters, and directly applicable to contemporary production workflows where harmonic coherence drives mix quality.
