About this plugin
Dynameter 2 represents a meaningful evolution in dynamics analysis for mastering and mixing work. Rather than chasing loudness meters that have become largely obsolete in the normalization era, this plugin takes a technical approach centered on PSR (Peak to Short-term Loudness Ratio) and PLR (Peak to Loudness Ratio) measurements - metrics that actually reveal what matters: the dynamic character of your mix.
The upgrade adds substantial analytical depth through expanded display modes including stereo, mid-side, and multiband analysis. This allows engineers to diagnose dynamic imbalances across frequency ranges and stereo fields with precision that standard loudness metering cannot provide. The real-time visualization uses color coding as a feedback system, helping operators quickly identify whether their compression and dynamics processing remain within healthy ranges.

The plugin's foundational strength lies in its practicality for the streaming era. By decoupling dynamics optimization from loudness targets, it addresses a genuine workflow problem: how to achieve competitive punch without over-compression artifacts. This makes it particularly valuable for mastering engineers working across multiple platforms and for mix engineers who need to understand their dynamic signature before mastering.
For existing Dynameter users, the upgrade justifies consideration if you regularly work with multiband analysis or require more granular stereo diagnostics. The tool maintains strong standing among dynamics-focused plugins, occupying a specific niche between simple loudness metering and full spectral analysis software. It's most effective as part of a broader mastering toolkit rather than a standalone solution.
