About this plugin
WLM Plus is a loudness metering plugin that addresses a fundamental challenge in modern audio production: ensuring compliance with the loudness standards that govern streaming platforms, broadcast, and digital distribution. Rather than relying on peak meters or RMS readings that have become obsolete for professional delivery, it measures in LUFS (Loudness Units relative to Full Scale), the standard adopted by YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, Netflix, and virtually every major streaming service.
The plugin's architecture centers on ITU BS.1770 metering, which weights frequencies according to human perception and accounts for both momentary and integrated loudness over short and long-term windows. This gives you the granular data needed to diagnose problems. The LU readout reveals dynamic range information at a glance, while True Peak metering catches intersample peaks that digital transcoding can amplify into distortion - a critical safeguard that simple peak limiters miss.

Beyond metering, WLM Plus includes practical tools for correction. The integrated True Peak limiter and gain trim allow you to fine-tune output without resorting to external processing, and customizable high-pass and low-pass filtering can isolate problematic frequency ranges during analysis. The ability to log results and switch between five different momentary scales and weightings makes it adaptable to various delivery requirements.
For mixing engineers and mastering professionals, WLM Plus occupies essential infrastructure rather than creative territory. It's become the default reference for loudness-critical work, valued precisely because it removes ambiguity from a process that once relied on experience and guesswork. In an era of algorithmic playlist normalization, that certainty matters.
