Product Overview
MDelayMB is a multiband delay processor that segments incoming audio into up to six independent frequency bands, each with dual delay taps and three selectable algorithms. This architecture fundamentally differs from standard delay plugins by allowing frequency-specific delay timing and character, a capability previously requiring multiple instances or external routing workarounds.
The crossover design offers three options: analog, linear-phase, and hybrid configurations. Analog provides the subtle coloration familiar to hardware multiband processors; linear-phase eliminates frequency-dependent phase shift at the cost of slight latency; hybrid balances both approaches. Each band features adjustable input gain and peak metering, critical for preventing buildup in compressed frequency ranges where delay feedback accumulates predictably.
The plugin's modulation architecture sets it apart from competitors. Four global modulators function as flexible LFO, envelope follower, or pitch detector sources, capable of modulating any parameter including other modulators. This depth enables complex, evolving delay characteristics without resorting to automation lanes. The continuously adjustable oscillator waveforms - blending predefined shapes with custom envelopes, step sequencing, and algorithmic processing - provide modulation sources of unusual sophistication.
MDelayMB suits mixing engineers seeking surgical delay control on problematic frequency ranges, sound designers exploring temporal complexity, and film/game audio professionals working in surround formats up to 8.0. The dual interface paradigm succeeds in its stated goal: default mode streamlines common tasks, while advanced mode exposes the full feature set for exploratory work.
Its transparent crossovers and precise per-band control establish it among the more technically rigorous multiband delay tools available, though the feature density demands investment to fully exploit.
