About this plugin
McDSP's 6034 Ultimate Multi-band is a surgical dynamics processor built for engineers who need independent control over discrete frequency ranges. The plugin divides incoming audio into four distinct bands via a configurable crossover with selectable slopes of 6, 12, or 24 dB/Oct, allowing each band to receive its own compression, expansion, or gating treatment. This architecture proves invaluable for taming problematic resonances, controlling low-end mud, or preventing vocal sibilance without affecting the entire frequency spectrum.
The processor inherits dynamics modules from McDSP's acclaimed 6050 Ultimate Channel Strip, delivering the transparent yet musical compression character the company has cultivated over two decades. The ability to swap modules on the fly - auditioning different processing chains while maintaining relative settings - accelerates workflow and encourages experimentation without tedious reconfiguration. Analog saturation modeling adds harmonic character when needed, preventing the sterile quality that can plague multi-band processing.

Zero latency algorithms make the 6034 suitable for real-time tracking and mixing, while double precision processing ensures sonic integrity across extended sessions. The metering reveals gain reduction and output levels per band, plus main input/output metrics, providing the transparency necessary for technical problem-solving.
The 6034 appeals primarily to mixing engineers, mastering specialists, and producers working with challenging source material or demanding commercial standards. Its inclusion of artist presets from recognized names like Mike Dean and David Bottrill offers legitimate sonic reference points rather than marketing flourish. For those requiring multi-band dynamics with professional-grade architecture and sonics, the 6034 remains a legitimate standard-bearer.
