About this plugin
The SSL G3 MultiBusComp extends the legendary dynamics processing heritage of SSL's analog consoles into a three-band multiband compressor designed for mixing and mastering contexts. Each band operates as an independent compressor with full threshold, ratio, attack, and release controls, while a unified makeup gain structure preserves the cohesive "glue" character that defines SSL's sonic signature across frequency ranges.
The plugin's core strength lies in its sidechain architecture. Beyond standard input filtering, users can create independent sidechain filters unlinked from the band crossovers, allowing dynamic control to respond to specific frequency ranges while processing others. This flexibility enables surgical compression moves - tightening low-end bloat without affecting kick punch, or controlling sibilance while preserving vocal presence - that would require multiple chained processors in less sophisticated tools.

A per-band harmonic drive circuit, inspired by SSL's 4K analog technology, adds character without coloration, useful for compensating dynamics processing with subtle saturation. The resizable interface and solo functions for individual bands and their sidechain signals support methodical decision-making during critical mixing stages.
The G3 MultiBusComp serves engineers and producers working at professional standards who understand multiband processing and demand transparent yet characterful dynamics. It's less a mastering-specific tool than a sophisticated mixing workhorse, best suited to those who appreciate SSL's engineering philosophy and require frequency-dependent compression that maintains musical cohesion. Among multiband competitors, its sidechain sophistication and authentic SSL character position it as a reference-grade option for detail-oriented production work.
