About this plugin
DRMeter MkII stands as a rare breed of loudness metering tool: technically rigorous without sacrificing practical utility. Developed by MAAT with input from Friedemann Tischmeyer, a key architect of the EBU R128 standard itself, this plugin delivers comprehensive loudness analysis that extends well beyond basic compliance checking.
The core strength lies in its dual approach. While fully conforming to R128 and A/85 standards with demonstrable accuracy, DRMeter MkII augments mandatory mono measurement with traditional L/R channel-specific metering - a combination missing from competitors. This reveals problematic mix imbalances that stereo-only analysis would obscure. The addition of DR (Dynamic Range) measurement capability addresses a genuine gap in modern metering, particularly valuable for genres where dynamic character matters.

The Dynamic Deviation function represents genuine innovation, translating abstract loudness concepts into an intuitive visual representation of how current dynamics compare against your target. Simultaneous relative and absolute scale display provides flexible workflow integration without menu diving.
The interface reflects matured design philosophy. Rather than pursuing visual complexity, MAAT prioritized information density and eye comfort for extended sessions. This matters during critical mastering work where fatigue breeds mistakes.
DRMeter MkII suits mastering engineers, music producers handling broadcast delivery, and content creators working across multiple platforms and standards. It's particularly essential for those managing streaming, theatrical, and broadcast specs simultaneously - a daily reality for professional facilities. While specialized tools may edge ahead in narrow applications, DRMeter MkII's comprehensive approach and legitimate standards pedigree make it the most defensible single-meter investment for serious production environments.
