About this plugin
MAAT's DRMeter is a real-time level metering plugin that measures dynamic range during mixing and mastering sessions. The tool calculates DR values using MAAT's proprietary algorithms, the same ballistics that defined the original TT Dynamic Range Meter, which became the de facto standard for dynamics assessment across the music industry. Unlike spectral or loudness-focused meters, DRMeter specifically quantifies the gap between peak and average levels, providing immediate feedback on whether a mix maintains sufficient dynamic contrast.
The plugin displays both graphical and numeric DR estimates alongside complementary measurements including SPPM peak levels, RMS amplitude, digital overs, and digital black floor readings. This combination of metrics gives engineers a comprehensive view of their mix's dynamic profile without requiring external batch processing tools.

DRMeter addresses a genuine production need: the industry-wide tendency toward excessive compression and limiting that collapses dynamic range in modern pop and rock records. By making DR visible in real-time on the master bus, the plugin encourages more conscious dynamic shaping decisions. Its interface prioritizes clarity and accuracy rather than visual flash, reflecting MAAT's engineering-first philosophy.
The plugin supports VST, VST3, AAX, and AU formats across macOS and Windows systems. MAAT positions DRMeter as the runtime complement to their DROffline batch analyzer, though the plugin functions independently for continuous session monitoring.
For mastering engineers, mix-focused producers, and anyone concerned with preserving dynamic musicality in modern releases, DRMeter provides essential, standards-based measurement that bridges the gap between subjective listening and objective data.
