About this plugin
Rocket Fuel is a multi-effects plugin from Lunatic Audio designed around dynamic modulation and real-time parameter automation. The core architecture centers on an XY pad coupled with four LFO shapes that can simultaneously modulate up to 12 stacked effects drawn from a library of nine processors: reverb, delay, chorus, distortion, filter, and others. This design prioritizes motion and evolution over static processing, making it particularly suited for sound design, remix work, and genre-agnostic production where textural movement is compositional.
The plugin's technical approach emphasizes modulation depth. Users assign multiple FX chain parameters to each XY axis independently, then layer LFO modulation on top, creating compound parameter changes that would otherwise require extensive automation. This architecture is effective for generating complex, evolving timbres from relatively simple gestures. The randomize function generates parameter sets across the entire signal chain simultaneously, useful for breaking creative stagnation, though the quality of results depends heavily on preset design.

The scalable interface prioritizes workflow efficiency, allowing users to audition and edit modulation schemes quickly without deep menu diving. For experienced producers, this speed-focused design is genuinely practical, reducing friction between conception and execution.
Rocket Fuel occupies a middle ground between full-featured modulation plugins like Serum and utilitarian multi-effect racks. It's best suited for electronic music production, sound design, and mixing scenarios where dynamic, rhythmically synchronized modulation adds value beyond conventional static effects. Whether it justifies purchase alongside existing modulation tools depends on specific workflow preferences and existing plugin inventory.
