About this plugin
Motion: Harmonic represents a significant expansion of Excite Audio's Motion platform, adding comprehensive distortion, bitcrushing, and filtering capabilities wrapped around the company's distinctive Hexagon controller interface. For existing Motion users, this crossgrade delivers substantial functionality gains, including 175 additional presets and access to the full effects and paths pages previously unavailable in Lite versions.
The plugin's core strength lies in its approach to dynamic modulation. Rather than static effect chains, Motion: Harmonic encourages interactive sound design through the Hexagon's six assignable macro sliders, which can be mapped to any onboard parameter. Combined with the path recording system - allowing real-time cursor movements to be drawn, edited, and automated - the workflow emphasizes gesture-based processing that feels more performative than traditional plugin automation.

The distortion and bitcrushing stages operate with enough range to handle both subtle harmonic enhancement and aggressive destruction. The filter section includes peak, highpass, and lowpass options, providing practical tone-shaping tools alongside the more experimental possibilities. Timeline controls for adjusting playback speed and direction add another layer of modulation depth.
Motion: Harmonic best serves sound designers and electronic producers seeking alternatives to conventional effect workflows. The 3D hexagon visualization provides useful feedback during parameter exploration, though the real value emerges through experimentation rather than preset browsing. Compared to dedicated distortion or filter plugins, it trades surgical precision for creative exploration. The crossgrade pricing makes sense for Motion users looking to expand their toolkit, particularly those already comfortable with Excite Audio's design philosophy and controller paradigm.
