About this plugin
ResDelay is a dual-function dynamics processor that pairs an envelope-follower filter with a stereo delay engine, designed to extract rhythmic and tonal movement from any audio source. The envelope filter operates by analyzing input dynamics and modulating a resonant low-pass filter in response. Users control the filter's sensitivity through threshold and decay parameters, while cutoff steepness and resonance settings shape the character of the sweep. Complementing this is a stereo delay section offering independent timing control between left and right channels, with selectable straight, dotted, and triplet subdivisions for rhythmic alignment.
The plugin occupies a distinct position between traditional auto-filter and delay tools. Where a standard auto-filter provides static sweeps, ResDelay's dynamic response creates organic, source-dependent movement. The stereo implementation - including ping-pong and full stereo modes - adds spatial interest beyond what mono processing typically achieves. The hi and lo-cut filters on both the main output and delay path allow surgical frequency management, preventing the effect from muddying low-end or cluttering high frequencies.

ResDelay suits producers working with drums, bass, and percussive material who need rhythmic variation without introducing melodic instability. It's equally valuable for sound design on synths, where the filter can inject movement into static sounds, and for mixing applications where cohesion is needed across grouped instruments. The 75 included presets provide starting points, though the plugin's power emerges through parameter tweaking. For engineers seeking transparent, musical filter modulation paired with creative delay possibilities, ResDelay delivers practical functionality that justifies its place in a production toolkit.
