About this plugin
The EFEKTOR FL3606 Flanger is a three-model modulation processor that captures the essential character of classic flanger effects while offering modern workflow conveniences. Based on the tape-flanging technique where manual speed manipulation of reel-to-reel machines produced their characteristic jet-engine sweep, this plugin delivers three distinctly voiced algorithms for different mixing contexts.
Royal Flanger provides the most straightforward vintage interpretation, suitable for traditional applications across vocals, guitars, and keyboards where subtlety matters. Jet Flanger pushes into more pronounced territory, generating the resonant peaks and spacious stereo imaging that made flanging indispensable for psychedelic and progressive rock production. Electro Flanger occupies darker, more experimental ground with increased harmonic complexity and a chorus-like wash that works well for ambient textures and synthesizer processing.

The implementation includes tempo synchronization for locked modulation rates, A/B comparison for rapid sonic evaluation, and selectable mono or stereo output modes. These features address practical studio requirements without sacrificing the core effect's character. The stereo capability proves particularly valuable for widening sparse arrangements or adding dimensional movement to center-positioned sources.
FL3606 positions itself competently among contemporary flanger plugins, distinguished primarily by its three distinct voices rather than extensive parameter tweaking. This approach appeals to producers seeking immediate sonic variety without deep menu diving. The plugin serves experienced engineers well as a supplementary tool within larger effect chains, though its relative simplicity may feel limiting for those requiring granular modulation control or unusual parameter interactions. It excels as a straightforward, reliable flanger for professional mixing work.
