About this plugin
The Master EQ 432 is IK Multimedia's digital emulation of the legendary hardware mastering equalizer that defined the parametric EQ category. Originally designed by two pioneering engineers in the 1970s, the hardware unit became the reference standard in mastering rooms worldwide due to its combination of circuit topology innovations and uncompromising component selection. The plugin faithfully reproduces this legacy while adding digital conveniences impossible in the original hardware.
The core appeal lies in its sonic transparency paired with a subtle, musically pleasing character that distinguishes it from generic digital EQs. This duality stems from the original design's fully discrete op-amp architecture and transformer-less signal path, qualities the emulation captures through advanced DSP modeling. The result is superior transient response, minimal distortion, and the kind of neutral-yet-musical behavior that makes a tool equally comfortable on individual tracks or across a master bus.

The plugin implements three distinct gain range modes - originally requiring separate hardware purchases - in a single instance, offering flexibility across various program material and mixing scenarios. Full automation and recall functionality bring mastering-grade recall to the DAW workflow, while the parametric design ensures independent band control with minimal crosstalk between frequencies.
The Master EQ 432 serves mastering engineers, mix engineers seeking reference-quality sculpting, and producers working in genres where sonic purity matters most. It occupies the same conceptual space as other mastering EQs but stands out through its documented lineage and the meticulous attention to emulation accuracy. This is essential equipment for critical listening environments where transparency cannot be compromised.
