About this plugin
Arturia's EQ SITRAL-295 models the parametric equalizer section found in vintage Siemens Sitral broadcast consoles, machines that defined the sonic character of mid-century radio stations and mastering suites. Rather than pursuing clinical transparency, this plugin captures the console's defining trait: a warm, slightly compressed response that adds musicality to any source material without announcing itself as processing.
The emulation covers four parametric bands with stepped frequency selection mirroring the original hardware's notched controls, though continuous mode is available for those preferring traditional automation workflows. The sonic signature derives from Arturia's component-level modeling of the original amplifier stages, yielding a gentle harmonic enrichment that becomes more pronounced at higher boost settings. This isn't aggressive saturation but rather the subtle nonlinearity characteristic of Class A tube and transistor circuits.

The plugin excels on individual tracks where its particular flavor enhances rather than neutralizes. Vocals, drums, and bass particularly benefit from its responsive character. On stereo sources or mix buses, dual-channel operation allows asymmetrical left-right processing, useful for creative mixing approaches or correcting phase-related tonal imbalances. The stepped interface encourages decisive moves over tentative tweaking, though experienced engineers accustomed to finer frequency resolution may occasionally wish for more granular control.
For producers and engineers valuing character over surgical precision, EQ SITRAL-295 occupies a distinct position among modern analog emulations. It's neither a transparent corrective tool nor an overtly colored creative effect but rather a bridge between both approaches, suited to mix chains where sonic warmth matters as much as technical accuracy.
