About this plugin
I Heart NY is a parallel compression plugin that streamlines a fundamental mixing technique into a single, efficient processor. Rather than routing audio to a separate bus and managing additional faders, the plugin internally duplicates the signal, processes it through its compression stage, and blends the result back with the original - delivering the characteristic punch of New York style compression without the routing overhead.
The plugin's sonic character centers on the SPANK control, which manages a multipart algorithm combining high-ratio compression with a transient-preserving envelope and integrated EQ shaping. A low-end preservation filter operates on the detector circuit, preventing bass frequencies from triggering excessive compression and maintaining fullness in the compressed layer. This approach prevents the typical hollowing effect that can occur when parallel compression is applied indiscriminately. Subtle SPANK settings add definition and presence to dulled material, while aggressive settings push mixes toward maximum loudness and saturation.

I Heart NY suits mixing engineers who want parallel compression's density and impact without session complexity, as well as producers working in limited DAW environments or on systems where bussing infrastructure adds latency. The plugin also functions as a conventional compressor when SOLO mode is engaged, muting the dry signal entirely.
Among parallel compressors, I Heart NY distinguishes itself through straightforward operation and transparent internal processing. It lacks the advanced metering and multiband capabilities of larger parallel tools, but prioritizes sonic results and workflow efficiency. For straightforward parallel compression without architectural compromise, this remains a pragmatic choice for contemporary mix-focused workflows.
