About this plugin
Excite Audio's VISION 4X represents a meaningful refinement of their established mastering-grade linear phase equalizer, now accessible via crossgrade pricing for users of competing platforms. The plugin distinguishes itself through a transparent, phase-coherent architecture that preserves transient integrity across the frequency spectrum - a critical consideration for mix engineers working in competitive genres where clarity demands precision.
The interface presents 7 parametric bands with 4x oversampling capability, delivering surgical control without the phase distortion characteristic of minimum phase designs. This approach proves particularly valuable in mastering contexts or when sculpting problem frequencies in dense arrangements. The parametric bands offer sufficient resolution for both broad tonal shaping and discrete surgical work, though users seeking extreme narrow-band notching might benefit from dedicated surgical EQ tools.

VISION 4X occupies middle ground between transparent utility and characterful processing. It won't impart the sought-after coloration of vintage analog designs, nor does it attempt to. Instead, it prioritizes accuracy and auditioning clarity, making it well-suited for critical listening environments where honesty over musicality matters.
Among linear phase competitors from Fabfilter, iZotope, and Waves, VISION 4X holds its ground on processing quality and workflow efficiency. The limited-time crossgrade pricing effectively lowers entry for producers already invested in other ecosystems. For mastering work or mix finalizing where phase coherence justifies the investment, this represents a competent alternative to category standards rather than a transformative advancement.
