About this plugin
Session Keys Grand S stands as a meticulously sampled Steinway D Concert Grand captured across two distinct recording configurations. The dual sampling approach - Concert mode with lid open for classical applications and Studio mode with lid removed for contemporary production - provides genuine sonic flexibility without the artificial switching that plagues lesser piano instruments. The underlying samples demonstrate the hallmarks of quality grand piano sampling: responsive dynamics, natural resonance characteristics, and convincing pedal behavior across the keyboard range.
The bundled Pentamorph controller justifies its inclusion through legitimate sound design utility rather than gimmickry. It functions as an intuitive morphing engine, enabling producers to transition smoothly between authentic piano tones and processed textures without leaving the interface. For engineers working across genres or seeking alternative timbre sources without additional plugin chains, this proves genuinely practical.

The Animator feature - a phrase-based accompaniment system with 400+ flexible patterns - targets songwriters and producers who benefit from harmonic suggestions without full DAW sequencing. The Smart Chord Mode, which generates voicings based on key detection, operates effectively for rapid ideation, though it remains best suited to supplemental arrangement rather than professional chord input methods.
Session Keys Grand S occupies a specific niche: experienced producers seeking a versatile, controllable grand piano instrument with integrated creative tools. The plugin excels for those needing quick tonal variation or harmonic assistance within a single interface. Compared to heavyweight sample libraries or modeling-based competitors, it prioritizes creative workflow integration over exhaustive customization. It performs most effectively as a primary piano instrument for contemporary production rather than as a specialized classical recording tool.
