About this plugin
Grand Rhapsody Piano is a meticulously sampled virtual instrument capturing the Fazioli F228, one of the world's finest concert grands. Waves recorded the instrument across its full dynamic range using eight pairs of premium microphones at London's Metropolis Studios, resulting in a sample library that preserves the nuanced tonal characteristics that have made this Italian-built piano the choice of both classical virtuosos and contemporary recording artists.
The plugin excels in delivering the F228's characteristic warmth and harmonic complexity. The sampling methodology captures not just the direct piano sound but also the sympathetic resonance of unstruck strings, which users can control via the sustain pedal implementation. The reverb engine includes ten acoustic environments, allowing the instrument to sit naturally within various sonic contexts without requiring extensive external processing.

For working producers and engineers, Grand Rhapsody offers practical flexibility. The velocity curve adjustment accommodates different playing styles and hardware controllers, while the preset library provides starting points for common applications. The stand-alone mode supports live performance workflows, and Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol integration streamlines workflow for existing NI users.
In the competitive landscape of premium piano plugins, Grand Rhapsody distinguishes itself through its source material rather than complex synthesis. The Fazioli's reputation for tonal consistency translates directly into the plugin's predictable, professional character. It's best suited for projects where the piano serves as a primary compositional element rather than textural padding. The sample quality justifies its position among high-end virtual instruments, making it a reliable choice for serious production work.
