About this plugin
Sasquatch 2 represents a focused approach to kick drum processing from Boz Digital Labs, designed specifically for producers who need surgical control over low-end character without the overhead of sample libraries or excessive parameter sprawl. The plugin organizes its processing into three distinct layers: Oomph handles the body and sustain, Click shapes the initial transient, and Dry preserves the unprocessed signal. This tripartite architecture allows for transparent blending, critical when sculpting kick drums that need to sit properly in dense mixes.
The technical implementation prioritizes phase coherence through instantaneous triggering, eliminating the phasing artifacts that plague traditional sidechain-based processors. Multiple trigger modes and selectable sidechain filters provide flexibility for tracking various drum sources, whether acoustic kicks or electronic triggers. The complementary high-pass and low-pass filtering options enable frequency-specific processing, essential for isolating problem areas or enhancing desired characteristics.

What distinguishes Sasquatch 2 from broader EQ and compression tools is its kick-specific architecture. Rather than generic dynamics processing, the plugin's fine-tuning controls create harmonic enhancement and saturation characteristics unique to each parameter layer. This makes it genuinely useful for both subtle correction and more aggressive sound design applications.
The upgrade path from Little Foot suggests Boz Digital Labs has maintained backward compatibility while expanding the toolkit. For engineers working across multiple genres - from hip-hop and electronic production to rock and pop - Sasquatch 2 provides reliable, predictable results without demanding deep menu diving. Its efficiency and transparent workflow make it suitable for both mixing and mastering contexts where kick drum control is paramount.
