About this plugin
Blue Cat's Remote Control is a sophisticated MIDI control and monitoring utility that addresses a fundamental limitation in modern music production: the fragmentation of control surfaces across dozens or hundreds of plugins and devices. Rather than a processor with sonic character, this is infrastructure software that consolidates management and automation workflows.
The plugin functions as a customizable virtual control surface, allowing you to assign any MIDI CC message to faders, knobs, switches, joysticks, and meters arranged according to your specifications. The 30 included skins provide starting points for common configurations, but the real power emerges when creating custom layouts using Blue Cat's KUIML language. This approach lets experienced users build tailored interfaces that reflect their specific hardware setup and production methodology.

What distinguishes Remote Control from simpler MIDI mapping solutions is its bidirectional architecture. You can transform incoming MIDI data with user-defined response curves, remap CCs across different channels, and critically, convert DAW automation data into MIDI messages for external gear. The instant preset recall system enables you to save and restore complete device states as discrete snapshots, providing undo/redo functionality across otherwise incompatible hardware.
The plugin suits producers working with extensive plugin chains, engineers integrating vintage hardware with modern DAWs, and anyone designing custom performance controllers. It's equally valuable for live producers needing hands-on parameter access and studio professionals tired of hunting through plugin windows. While it demands initial setup investment, Remote Control pays dividends in workflow efficiency, particularly for projects with complex control requirements or frequent hardware integration.
