About this plugin
MidiShaper is a MIDI modulation controller that addresses a fundamental gap in hardware and software synthesis: the ability to apply sophisticated, real-time parameter modulation across a broad range of instruments without requiring deep integration or plugin chains. Developed by Cableguys, the tool leverages the company's established expertise in LFO design through an intuitive drawing interface that translates custom curves directly into MIDI data.
The plugin operates as a four-channel modulation engine, with each LFO capable of independent synchronization to your DAW timeline or free-running operation at frequencies spanning 0.02Hz to 5.24kHz. This breadth allows everything from subtle parameter drifts to audible sidechain-style effects. Each LFO can be shaped with Cableguys' characteristic drawing tools, enabling precise control over curves, steps, and ramps that would otherwise require multiple envelopes or complex automation lanes. The included AHDSR envelopes add note-triggered dynamics, while the modulation matrix routes these sources to Pitch Bend, Mod Wheel, Aftertouch, and up to six assignable CCs.

This approach is particularly valuable for synthesizer players working with hardware units or legacy software instruments that lack sophisticated modulation capabilities. The ability to lock LFO phase to incoming MIDI notes creates patterns that track individual performances, a feature that distinguishes MidiShaper from basic MIDI LFO utilities. The categorized preset library provides accessible starting points without limiting deeper experimentation.
MidiShaper effectively becomes a modulation hub for your entire setup, whether you're controlling vintage gear, modern soft synths, or hardware effects. Its straightforward design makes it accessible while maintaining enough depth for complex patches.
