About this plugin
Sssniper is a frequency-targeted de-esser designed to address one of the most persistent challenges in vocal production: controlling sibilant harshness without introducing the dull, lisping artifacts that plague many de-essers. Rather than relying on traditional threshold-based gate logic, Audified's approach intelligently targets the specific frequency bands where sibilance concentrates, offering a more surgical reduction that preserves vocal character.
The plugin's central innovation is its dual-tuned design, split across a single knob. The red side (left) targets the sharper sibilant profile typical of female vocals, while the blue side addresses the deeper sibilant character of male voices. The middle position provides a balanced starting point suitable for most sources, with the visual intensity of the ring indicating reduction strength in real-time. This dual-path architecture means users can dial in corrections without the trial-and-error frustration common with single-algorithm de-essers.

What distinguishes Sssniper from competitors is its gentleness. Even at moderate settings, the reduction remains transparent rather than aggressive, addressing the fundamental problem that over-de-essed vocals often sound worse than slightly sibilant ones. The plugin excels on both sung and spoken vocals, making it equally useful for music production and podcast or audiobook mastering.
Sssniper occupies practical middle ground between basic high-shelf EQ cuts and complex multiband compression. It handles the majority of sibilance issues without demanding extensive parameter tweaking, making it ideal for mixing engineers who need reliable results quickly while maintaining vocal naturalness.
