About this plugin
Augmented GRAND PIANO represents Arturia's most ambitious approach to virtual piano design, moving beyond straightforward sampling toward a genuinely transformative instrument. The plugin anchors itself in a high-quality grand piano recording, then deploys two distinct processing layers, each capable of hosting dual sound sources drawn from samples or synthesis. This architecture enables producers to construct hybrid timbres without the workflow friction typical of multi-layered instruments.
The core innovation lies in the Morph control, which functions as a continuous crossfade between your custom sound layers while simultaneously modulating multiple parameters in parallel. This creates natural timbral evolution rather than abrupt switching, making it particularly effective for cinematic underscore where gradual textural transformation supports emotional arc. The morphing capability distinguishes Augmented GRAND PIANO from conventional piano plugins, which typically offer static presets.

Beyond morphing, the plugin addresses expression comprehensively through velocity sensitivity and aftertouch routing, with straightforward macro controls that reward both quick tweaking and deeper exploration. An arpeggiation engine and advanced modulation matrix support time-based evolution, while the sound design panel provides granular control over each layer's characteristics.
The sonic palette spans concert grand authenticity to radically processed territory - granular atmospherics, heavily effected textures, and hybrid synthesis that bears little acoustic resemblance to its source material. This range suits film and game composers seeking versatile orchestral tools alongside electronic music producers wanting an expressive keyboard with character beyond typical digital pianos.
Augmented GRAND PIANO occupies a specific niche: producers valuing timbral flexibility and real-time morphing over vast preset libraries will find genuine utility here.
