Developed in collaboration with Pulse Techniques, the current manufacturer of original Pultec hardware, this plugin models a pristine new unit, capturing the sonic character of the original without the compromises of vintage component drift. The MEQ-5's design centers on three overlapping peaking filters that operate in the presence region, typically between 500 Hz and 4 kHz, giving engineers surgical control over vocal presence, instrument definition, and mix cohesion.

What distinguishes the Pultec approach from modern parametric designs is its gentle, musical response curve. The overlapping bandwidths create smooth, shelving-like boosts rather than surgical peaks, resulting in a warm, additive coloration that flatters rather than clinically corrects.
