Pulsatec is D16 Group's interpretation of the passive equalizer topology that defined mixing practice from the 1960s onward. The plugin captures the essential character of these circuits: the ability to simultaneously boost and cut within the same frequency band, a technique that produces a musical compression of the audio spectrum rather than a simple frequency lift or reduction. This approach yields the warm, slightly nonlinear coloration that distinguishes passive EQ from its active counterparts.

The interface divides the frequency spectrum into practical ranges. The low-frequency section covers 20 to 100 Hz with independent boost and cut controls, allowing precision on fundamental energy without phase anomalies. Two mid-range bands address the complex 200 Hz to 16 kHz region with selectable Q widths, giving users surgical control over problem areas or enhancement zones. The high-frequency attenuation section targets air and sibilance management.
